His yoke is easy and His burden is light…

Running our race in our own strength eventually leaves us burned out, joyless, and angry. We become chained to strife, attempting to gain with own hands what can only be obtained through, in, and with Christ: the ONLY perfect One. Something I’ve realized lately, a revelation that was more than past due, is that accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior truly means just that. You submit and allow HIM to be your God, no longer relying and depending on yourself.

HE becomes your strength and your help (Phil 4:13; Psalm 34:4-5). HE becomes your joy (Psalm 16:11). HE becomes your Provider (Phil 4:19). HE becomes your Protection (Psalm 18:2). Everything you need is suddenly found in HIM! You make room for HIM, and He becomes your Source. He’s waiting, and more than able to do so. He IS the Bread (satisfaction) of Life! In Matthew 11, Christ sends out a call to the weary, inviting us to come and proclaiming that walking with Him, means a light and easy burden:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

A life yoked (or joined) to Christ is a life of peace (Romans 8:6). We can literally rest in Him! We can lay down the religious, dead works and simply be led by His Spirit. His Spirit is Who disciples and matures us as we walk in relationship with Him. Jesus is the ONLY way to salvation. It’s not about what we can do! If that was sufficient, there would have been no need for Him to die (Romans 8:3). It’s about HIM, not about us. THAT’S GOOD NEWS!!!

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6
