Singing over a sick family member, I gained a better understanding of God’s heart in Zephaniah 3:17. God’s peace entered the room, and she was able to rest. I’m was reminded of God’s ability and desire to calm us in painful and difficult situations. The Word even describes God’s desire for Jerusalem to be like a mother hen who wants to gather in her chicks.
Peace is a precious thing and it’s our portion in Christ. The Holy Spirit was sent as our Gift, our Comforter. God has promised to never leave us comfortless like orphans, to ALWAYS be with us, to NEVER forsake us.
I know what inner turmoil feels like, to question where God is, to feel inconsolable. But every time, Peace found me. To most the “singing” is inaudible, sometimes it seems to delay, sometimes His presence is intangible. But He does sing and He does come.
Peace comes.
Prayer
God, I pray for Your perfect peace to rest on the person reading this. You are aware of everything we go through, Your eyes are always on us. Thank You for Your promise to never leave us, You are an ever-present help! Even when we don’t feel You near, help us to lean on this truth.
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 ESV
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
John 14:16-18 KJV
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You kill the prophets and stone the messengers God has sent you! How many times have I wanted to put my arms round all your people, just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would not let me!”
